The Bible is the written revelation of God's redemptive work in history. Reading the Bible gives us knowledge, inspiration, and hope. It increases our faith and helps us understand the nature of God and His Son, Jesus. It tells us about the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of real people.

Reading the Bible regularly is an important next step for any Jesus follower. We encourage you to take the next step of regularly reading your Bible. Set aside time each day to devote to God's Word and what God has to say to you through it.

If you are just starting and want to read just one Bible book, we suggest either Luke or John in the New Testament, and either Genesis or Psalms in the Old Testament.

There are many Bible programs that be found online. We suggest you download the Youversion Bible app and follow one of their awesome reading plans.

If you would like to read the Bible as one continuous story, we recommend the book, The Story, available from

Tips on Reading the Bible Daily

1. Start reading the Bible today—there is no better time, and there's no reason to wait.

2. Set aside a specific time each day. Set your schedule and then stick to it. Mornings are great, but feel free to use any time that works consistently for you.

3. Read the Bible for the sake of learning, not simply to accomplish your next reading. Say a short prayer to God before you begin, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding, then be refreshed by the words you read!
