OUR BELIEFS

At The Waymart Church we are all about creating spaces where Jesus Christ changes lives.

Our Mission is to Help People Reach People for Jesus

We believe:

  • Every single person is infinitely valuable to God and to us.

  • Life is a journey of discovery. In His passion to know us and see us reach our full potential, God meets us where we are in order to take us to a way of life we can only reach with Him.

  • A faith community should be a safe and honest place to explore all that God offers. While there are many honorable and worthy teachers and paths in life, what Jesus provides is unique and unequaled.

  • No matter who you are or where you are on your faith journey, we welcome you to join us on the adventure of finding, knowing, and serving God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

THE RETURN OF CHRIST

THE BIBLE: We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. 2 Tim. 3:16,17; 1 Pet. 1:19-21.

GOD: We believe in one God eternally existing as the creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth. His glory, majesty, and holiness are inexpressible. The unity of the Godhead exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 8:6; Ex. 20:2,3; Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14.

JESUS: We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true man. Jn. 1:1,2,14; Lk. 1:35; Phil. 2:6,7.

THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal to all persons of the Godhead in nature and attributes. He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment leading men to repentance and faith whereupon He indwells and seals them unto the day of redemption. Jn, 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 1:13,14.

THE CONDITION OF MAN: We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature; and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word, and deed. Gen. 3:1-6,24; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1,3.

SALVATION: Atonement for Sin: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice. I Pet. 2:24; Eph 1:7; Acts 4:12.By Grace through Faith: We believe we are justified by grace alone through faith that comes as a result of the Spirit’s work of conviction leading to repentance. Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; Acts 3:19.Eternal Security: We believe in the eternal security of all the truly redeemed; once saved, they are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. Jn. 10:27-30; I Pet. 1:5; Heb. 7:25. This assurance in no way gives the believer license to continue in sin. Rom. 13:13,14; Titus 2:11,12.

THE RESURRECTION: Of Christ: We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. Eph. 1:6; 1 Cor. 15:3,4.Of Mankind: We believe in the bodily resurrection of the justified unto everlasting blessedness in heaven’s glory. II Cor. 4:14; I Thess. 4:16; Rev. 20:6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the wicked dead unto everlasting punishment in the lake of fire. Rev. 20:11- 15.

THE CHURCH: Universally: We believe that the Church consists of all believers having become part of the body of Christ at the moment of conversion. I Cor. 12:12,13; Eph. 5:25-27; Eph. 1:22,23.Locally: We believe that a church of Christ is a congregation of believers associated by the faith and fellowship of the Gospel. It shall be governed by the Scriptural standards of pastors and deacons, with every believer utilizing the gift of grace within them, being active in the work of self-edification, evangelism, and observance of the ordinances. Mt. 28:19,20; I Tim. 3:15; Eph. 4:7,11-13; I Tim. 3.

CHURCH ORDINANCES: Baptism: We believe that Christian Baptism is the believer’s immersion in water symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord demonstrating the believer’s death to sin and commitment to a new life. Rom. 6:3-6.Lord’s Supper: We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ whereupon the believer solemnly examines himself for worthiness. I Cor. 11:23-32.

THE RETURN OF CHRIST: We believe in the “blessed hope” of the personal imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and that He will come pretribulational (prior to the seven years tribulation) and premillennial ( before the thousand year reign of Christ on earth). I Thess. 4:13-16; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-21.

CHRISTIAN LIVING: Sanctification: We believe that Christians are set apart unto God and that the Holy Spirit’s progressive work of sanctification coupled with obedience to the written Word enables each believer to live a victorious life over the old nature. I Thess. 5:24; Heb. 10:10; Gal. 5:16; Rom. 12:1; 6:22.
